Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What You’d Be Doing In This Role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
Building tools and frameworks that help us rapidly and reliably conduct experiments across different parts of the Canva appDesign, develop and deploy solutions and hands-on software development – working closely with leads, designers, and product managers to deliver features and experiments to our customers worldwideWork collaboratively and consult with leads, product managers, and engineers across teams at Canva to unblock front-end works that help your group deliver features and experiments to our customers worldwideIdentifies opportunities for cross-team collaboration to work on new ideas and improvements that help achieving our goalsDesigning public APIs, balancing good design, extensibility, ease of use & delivery, with versioning and migrations, and supporting old versions with deprecation periodsAdding public APIs on internal core features requires aligning closely with core Canva teams, ensuring underlying code and data structures are exposed correctly, allowing for real time multi-user collaboration, and without compromising future core feature development or architecture changes
You're probably a match if
You will be at home working in our core technology environment - our core stack is JavaScript, HTML, CSSYou are firmly grounded computer science and engineering fundamentals including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patternsYou work collaboratively with team members and communicating effectivelyYou have experience with TypeScript (or other typed languages), React, MobX (or other state management libraries), particularly using types on APIs to provide guard rails for developersYou are interest in focusing on integration codeYou have experience designing easy to use APIs with versioning
About The Team
In the App Api Platform group, we build public frontend APIs on Canva’s core features, as well as building the platform and sandbox for apps to run in. Including among others
Design & Productivity; reading and writing elements on the design, automating design creationPlatform, User and Asset; importing/exporting assets from/to 3rd party resources, auth flows integrating with external authenticators eg. OAuth providersAppRuntime; provide a centralised, sandboxed platform for 3rd party Apps to run reliably and secure in multiple areas of Canva and facilitate API teams to build and expose more APIs.
