The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is dedicated to enhancing employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This position is designated under Section 50 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA), and as such, only Aboriginal people are eligible to apply.
SWAMS plays a crucial role in delivering services to the South West community, aiming to reduce the number of Aboriginal children entering care. By providing culturally appropriate services to at-risk families in partnership with Key Assets Australia, we are deeply committed to advocating for the safety of Aboriginal children, ensuring they remain at home with their families. We are looking for case workers for the Support Network program.
The case workers in the Support Network program will build and maintain Support Networks and interagency networks in the Collie, Manjimup, and Busselton regions, developing referral systems to help clients navigate services. Positioned at the front reception, they will be the first point of contact for families and young people seeking assistance and will also work on the "Service Network" phone service.
We are currently seeking passionate Case Workers to join our team in three different locations: Collie, Manjimup, and Busselton. Please indicate which role you are applying for in your cover letter.

Essential Criteria
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders descent under section 50(d) Equal Opportunity Act.
- Knowledge of the Children and Community Services Act 2004.
- Basic knowledge of developmental needs of children and young people.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal People, and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with communities, families, children and young people.
- Strong written skills, including report writing.
- Demonstrated ability to manage own time and work resources.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to liaise with relevant government and non-government professionals, community groups, services, and agencies and present and report information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving skills, in relation to case management.
You must have a:
- Valid and current Driver’s Licence
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check
