About your role
As a Senior Estimator at Unita, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective fit-out and commercial projects. Based in our East Melbourne office, you’ll collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to prepare accurate cost estimates, manage tenders, and drive project success. What your days will look like:
- Drive the tendering process — manage timelines, identify missing scope items, and ensure key milestones are met each week.
- Analyse project requirements — assess production time, materials, equipment, and labour costs to develop accurate and competitive estimates.
- Source and engage subcontractors & suppliers — ensure high capability, compliance, and cost-effectiveness for each project.
- Collaborate with the construction team — provide high-quality, buildable estimates that align with client budgets and project outcomes.
- Lead seamless project handovers — run detailed briefings with the delivery team to set projects up for success post-award.
- Support and mentor the team — work closely with the Estimation Manager to guide estimators and cadets, fostering professional growth.
- Represent Unita with confidence — engage professionally with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners to uphold our reputation.
What you will bring to the role:
With a strong background in fit-out, refurbishment, and hospitality projects, you are a detail-oriented Senior Estimator who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Your expertise in cost estimation, construction methodologies, and industry pricing enables you to deliver accurate and competitive tenders while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders. In addition, you will have:
- 5+ years of estimating experience across fit-out, refurbishment, and hospitality projects, with budgets ranging from $1M to $10M.
- Tertiary qualifications in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.
- Deep industry knowledge of construction processes, materials, and pricing.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and relevant industry software.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with a track record of collaborating effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
