As the Senior Release of Information Officer, you will be responsible for administering our obligations under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act). You will make access decisions on applications for documents under both Acts, handle applications for amendment of personal information, and manage our response to subpoenas and statutory notices.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Interpret and apply the RTI Act and IP Act.
- Receive, assess, and decide RTI, IP, and Administrative Access applications.
- Handle complex and sensitive applications and requests.
- Coordinate and report on external complaint reviews.
- Manage the release of information in response to subpoenas and statutory notices.
- Develop and deliver training programs on RTI, IP, and administrative access application management.
- Manage external reviews and implement recommendations.
- Prepare and manage appeals relating to RTI and IP applications.
- Provide support for administrative duties within the legal services team.
- Maintain stakeholder relationships to facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Prepare correspondence and reports, including data for monthly and annual reports.
- Develop and maintain corporate policies and procedures regarding the release of information.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and business excellence.
- High-level knowledge of the RTI Act and IP Act or the ability to acquire it.
- Independent administrative decision-making skills and experience.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize and escalate risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to personal and professional development.
- You will regularly handle personal and private information, which may be confronting. Sensitivity and resilience are critical, along with strategies for managing stressful situations.
- A detailed understanding of the Queensland health environment is desirable but not essential.
- A relevant tertiary qualification is considered desirable but not a requirement.
