Snapshot - Construction Estimator
We’re seeking an Estimator to join our team, who has
- Recent and extensive experience as an Estimator pricing a variety of commercial and industrial projects up to $30m
- A positive attitude, openness to continually learning on the job, and an exemplary work ethic
- The ability to commit to a full-time permanent role, Monday – Friday
This is a rare opportunity to join a specialised, leading construction company as an Estimator, where you will work on exciting and challenging projects across various sectors in a dynamic and collaborative team that values your expertise. You will have the responsibility to oversee the entire tender process, from initial client contact to final submission, and showcase your skills and experience in delivering high-quality and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse scopes, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements and assemble accurate and well-organised budgets, estimates and tenders
- Accurately measure and price from drawings and prepare detailed quantity take-offs
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and leverage potential opportunities to benefit project outcomes
- Prepare and present value engineering solutions
- Analysis and selection of best suppliers and subcontractors for specific projects, developing and strengthening long-term relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project handovers
- Participation in regular management meetings to keep the team informed.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the estimating process, addressing client concerns and resolving issues in a timely manner.
Requirements:
The successful applicant will have
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a commercial/Industrial construction estimating role, specifically working on hard dollar, D&C and negotiated tenders
- Demonstrated ability as a confident & collaborative communicator, consistent with building trusted relationships and partnerships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers across the industry,
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods and techniques, and market conditions and competitor behaviour
- Ability to read, interpret and prepare appropriate responses to contract documentation, working drawings and tender deliverables
- Expertise, knowledge and understanding of all relevant governing authority requirements
- Self-motivated and have the ability to work in a team environment
- Effective problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
In addition, the following is highly desirable
- A recognised Degree Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Engineering, or trade background.
- Proficient with both estimating and non-estimating related software packages, including Cubit Estimating, Estimate One, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, etc
- Ability to develop scopes, sketch drawings, and methodologies from concept for D&C projects.
- Proven experience with generating and converting leads to tenders, developing and expanding upon new and existing market opportunities and client relationships
