The successful candidate will be employed at the classification listed on the attached role description under EOSD provisions.
About the Role:
Exciting opportunities are available to join the Queensland Virtual Academy (QVA) as an Education Officer (EOSD), starting in Term 1, 2025. Successful applicants will collaborate to create high-quality, on-demand curriculum resources designed to support inexperienced and beginning teachers. Expertise in Technologies is essential for this role.
The Education Officers (EOSD) will play key roles in working with curriculum experts, video production personnel, and quality assurance staff to create learning episodes, teaching resources, and experiences in a range of formats to support teaching and learning.
Consideration will also be given to shared employment arrangements, allowing successful applicants to work part-time with the QVA while retaining part-time positions at their base schools.
Roles are available in the following focus areas:
- Years 7-10 Design and Technologies - Food and Fibre
- Years 7-10 Design and Technologies - Food Specialisation
- Years P-6 Technologies
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the state-wide delivery of QVA On-demand learning materials.
- Developing Australian Curriculum Digital Technologies resources and teaching materials in line with the K-12 Curriculum, Assessment, and Reporting Framework.
- Creating innovative, future-focused learning solutions that support a range of schools and contexts.
- Delivering instructional video content with the support of a production team.
- Coaching and mentoring inexperienced and beginning Technologies teachers, both virtually and face-to-face.
Highly Desirable Skills and Experience:
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Experience implementing curriculum aligned with the K-12 Curriculum, Assessment, and Reporting Framework.
- Expertise in developing and teaching the Australian Curriculum, specifically in Technologies.
- Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to coach and mentor primary teachers, particularly those who are inexperienced or new, in effectively delivering the Australian Curriculum.
- Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment.
- Experience in resource production, or a willingness to acquire skills and knowledge in this area.
- A strong interest in digitally-enabled learning approaches, including the use of QLearn.
Mandatory Requirements:
- You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments.
- Employees' engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 36¼ hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 5.12 of the Department of Education State School Teachers' Certified Agreement 2022
- When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
