  • About the role The Principal Privacy Officer, Privacy Complaints and Notifications plays a critical role in guiding Queensland government agencies on the interpretation and administration of the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) and manages privacy complaints and assessment of notifications received under the Mandatory Notification of Data Breach (MNDB) scheme. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to foster an open, transparent, and privacy-conscious culture within the Queensland public service. This is a permanent, full-time (flexible) position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on privacy governance while working in a supportive, inclusive environment that values transparency and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities Managing privacy complaints about Queensland public sector agencies, including making assessments about jurisdiction, conducting mediations between parties and preparing associated correspondence in accordance with the IP Act. Assessing and administering privacy data breach notifications Providing guidance, assistance and training to the community and to Queensland public sector entities to understand their rights and responsibilities under the IP Act. Developing or contributing to the development of policy advice and OIC resources and training to support good IP practices in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Contributing to audits and reviews of agency performance and personal information handling practices, including compliance with the MNDB scheme. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver initiatives that foster an open public service culture and information policy settings that encourage the protection of personal information.
