Sports Development Officer

Description:

We are looking for a Sports Development Officer to lead and support the delivery of tennis programs across schools, clubs, and community settings in Victoria. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in expanding tennis participation, enhancing player development, and strengthening community engagement through tennis.

Competitive salary range of $75,000 - $80,000 per year.

• Plan, program, and coordinate coaching and development activities for Meehan Tennis Academy
• Develop and deliver tennis programs for players of all ages and skill levels, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all participants.
• Offer guidance and advice to coaches and players, and organize coaching clinics and training camps to help improve skills and performance.
• Organize and coordinate tennis events, competitions, and tournaments, managing all aspects from logistics to promotion.
• Work to increase the participation of young people, schools, and community groups in tennis, emphasizing its benefits for health, fitness, and social connection.
• Scout and nurture emerging tennis talent, working closely with local tennis clubs and regional bodies to provide athletes with opportunities for development.
• Build relationships with schools, community organizations, and tennis clubs to expand tennis offerings and raise awareness of our programs.
• Manage budgets for tennis development programs, including grant administration and financial reporting to ensure effective resource allocation.
• Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of tennis programs, making recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborate with coaches, parents, and clubs to enhance the quality of tennis coaching and player development.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, sporting bodies, and stakeholders to strengthen tennis networks.

• Experience in sports coaching, sports development, or event management, preferably within tennis for atleast 1-2 years.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple programs and events simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with coaches, athletes, schools, and community organizations.
• A sound understanding of tennis development pathways and the ability to identify and nurture young talent.
• A deep commitment to promoting sports participation, particularly for young people and underrepresented groups.
• A relevant qualification in sports management, physical education, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
