About the role
selectability is currently seeking a safety officer to work in the corporate team, supporting safety across the organisations footprint. The safety officer will report to the people & culture manager and will work closely with management to support, develop and maintain consistent workplace health and safety processes across the selectability footprint. Based in Townsville, this is a permanent fulltime position.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- supporting the organisations overall function of workplace health and safety, including psychosocial safety in accordance with WHS legislation
- analysing and reporting on WHS data to identify trends and corrective actions
- developing initiatives to maintaining a safe workplace, developed using best practice principles and adhering to compliance requirements
- developing programs to maintaining a psychologically safe workplace across the footprint
- supporting the development and reviewing of policies and procedures relating to WHS legislation, regulations and standards
- reviewing incidents and providing guidance to leaders on corrective actions
- developing training to embed a culture of safety and risk mitigation across the footprint
- writing monthly safety reports
- proactively managing WorkCover, using early intervention methods across the organisation
About you
To be successful you must:
- hold a Cert IV WHS (minimum), or willing to obtain
- strong working knowledge of safety management systems, legislation and regulations, including psychosocial safety
- understanding of NDIS, HSQF, National Mental Health, Child Safety, or Aged Care quality and practice standards is highly desirable
- experience in managing WorkCover claims
- strong written & verbal communication skills
- a commitment to best practice
Role Requirements
- a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You'
- occasional travel to various selectability locations is required
