Description:

This position has a mix of team lead, technical, and project management responsibilities, including:

  • Lead a team of approx. 6-8 Data Scientists.
  • Mentor your team to help them grow their knowledge and skills.
  • Build working relationships with the organisation's wider data community.
  • Identify business requirements to address stakeholder problems by applying advanced analytics techniques.
  • Deliver advanced analytics projects and providing technical leadership.
  • Explain and present analytics solutions to both technical and senior business stakeholders.

Requirements:

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven team leadership capability in a professional environment. This includes solid interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate and develop your team members.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills. You can influence stakeholders within different areas of expertise.
  • Experience in guiding and mentoring data analytics professionals. You can provide technical leadership to your team to help solve problems and streamline analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering performance improvement solutions for business problems by applying data analysis, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques to generate business value.
  • Experience in project management - this includes scoping, planning and delivery using a disciplined approach to attain project goals.
  • Knowledge of industry standard analysis tools and approaches. This includes data platforms, programming languages and data analysis technologies.
  • Mining, resource industry, operations, or equivalent heavy industries experience is essential.



Other highly regarded skills include experience in:

  • Engineering consulting and/or management consulting.
  • Leading Agile teams and projects.

Conditions:

What's on offer:

  • Attractive salary package of $190-210k base plus super, plus annual bonus.
  • Work from home 2 days per week, including a Monday or Friday (your choice).
  • Leading a collaborative, highly skilled team of Data Scientists and liaising with a range of business and technical stakeholders across Australia and internationally (while sticking to typical Monday to Friday working hours).
  • Excellent opportunity for future growth towards Management.
  • PLEASE NOTE: for those who wish to remain more technical, a Senior Data Scientist position is also available in the team, with future growth opportunities towards a Principal or Lead role.
