The Data Modelling Unit is a team within the Research and Analytics Directorate and provides modelling and forecasting capability across all areas of the QPS business. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of law enforcement through technology and to contribute significantly to public safety and operational efficiency.This role will make an important contribution supporting evidence-based decision making within this organisation.
The Core Capability Requirements For This Role Are
- Coordinate and deliver reports, publications, presentations, correspondence, and information extracts, to support the development and maintenance of data models.
- Contribute to the implementation of innovative solutions and promote continuous improvement including through the review of practices, procedures, and standards to enhance the data model management and accuracy.
- Engage and build productive relationships to create understanding and capability both within Research & Analytics team and stakeholders internal and external to the QPS, including senior management.
- Understanding of a range of modelling techniques including but not limited to the range of economic model constructs.
- Contribute to projects from conceptualization to deployment of data models, including preparation of project plans and documentation, ensuring high standards of quality and effectiveness.
- Assist in the analysis, evaluation, ETL and visualisation of data using cloud computing platforms, Power BI, DAX, SQL Server.
Qualification
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications, a qualification in economics, data science, analytics or related fields would be highly regarded.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational Experience
Highly Desirable
- Proven skills in the application of data models.
- Proven skills in data analytics and visualisations using SQL Server, Power BI, Python or similar.
- Knowledge of a range of modelling techniques.
