About City of Port Phillip
We are a vibrant and diverse inner-city council stretching 20kms from South to Port Melbourne along the stunning bay beaches down to Elwood and out to St Kilda East with around 1000 people who all work together to deliver more than 100 programs and services to our engaged community of residents, businesses and visitors. What’s the role all about
This exciting new role will see you support the business in leading the development and coordination of a program of urban renewal projects, from scoping and prioritisation of urban infrastructure projects to developing the policy, partnerships and governance to set us up for success, all in collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Ideally this role would suit a pro-active strategic thinker / solutions focused professional with highly developed project management, people management and collaboration skills with the ability to develop and lead multi-disciplinary teams.

What you might do
- Coordinate the development and prioritisation of a portfolio of complex urban renewal projects
- Lead collaborative projects and multi-disciplinary teams including negotiating with delivery partners
- Build strong relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders
- Drive our program management capability, including strong governance, reporting and risk management practices
- Contribute to a cohesive and innovative team culture
Who we are looking for
- A relevant tertiary qualification ideally in urban planning, property or project management.
- Extensive and diverse experience in strategic planning, statutory planning, urban development or project management roles with an understanding of infrastructure delivery in urban renewal or growth areas context
- experience at a senior level in successfully leading the delivery of complex projects in a complex organisation – preferably in a local council or state government context
- Well-developed analytical, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills with a proven ability to develop creative solutions and assess a range of options
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build productive relationships, resolve conflict, and negotiate and influence outcomes with a range of internal and external stakeholders
