Are you passionate about environmental conservation and protecting natural landscapes? The Northern Land Council (NLC) is seeking a Support Officer to assist in the delivery of the Gamba Eradication and Biodiversity Conservation (GEBC) Project . This is a hands-on role working alongside project partners to survey, manage, and control gamba grass infestations in remote areas across the legislated gamba eradication zone.
About the Role
The Support Officer – GEBC Project supports the control of gamba grass infestations across the eradication zone through surveys, data collection, and on-ground assistance. The role involves providing technical advice, assisting project partners with weed management, and coordinating remote logistics during the short gamba grass control season. With frequent travel across the NLC region, this hands-on position is key to ensuring effective biodiversity conservation and project delivery.
What you will bring
You will bring experience in fieldwork and data collection, helping with surveys, weed management, and control training. With experience in remote logistics and operations, you ensure effective project delivery while assisting with reporting and compliance. By being adaptable and proactive, you're ready to contribute to all aspects of the role.
In addition to this, you will have: -
- Certificate IV in natural resource management or related field and/or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience in supporting and delivering land management activities in remote locations including weed management.
- Ability to work as part of a small team in remote areas in various climatic conditions, with the ability to conduct operations in light aircraft, helicopters, ATV’s and small vessels.
- Current C Class Drivers Licence

What’s in it for you:
- A base salary of $66,333 per annum plus 14.5% superannuation and salary sacrificing up to $15,900 + Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
- Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
- District allowance of up to $4,797 per annum for individuals with dependents and $2,630 without dependents.
