This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the South East Region Student Services Team as Principal Advisor Inclusion. This role will work closely with the Director Student Services and other leadership staff to empower school leadership teams to enhance inclusive practices in schools. The Principal Advisor Inclusion provides expert advice to school teams in the development of strategies and plans to meet the needs of diverse learners. They also deliver professional learning and coaching to build inclusive education knowledge and capability with the goal of developing more inclusive school and learning environments.

Your Role:

The Principal Advisor Inclusion will:

  • provide expert advice to support schools to implement the Department of Education's Inclusive Education Policy.
  • support delivery of evidence-based strategies to improve access, engagement and achievement for students with diverse learning needs, including students with disability.
  • partner with school teams to build the capability and confidence of school leaders and teachers to implement evidence based strategies, systems and processes that enhance inclusive practices in schools, both at a whole school level, and for individual students through your work as a Regional Office Case Lead.
  • provide leadership and coordination of the South East Region's Advisory Visiting Teacher for Assistive Technology.
  • participate in a Statewide network of Principal Advisors Inclusion and support the sharing of practices, speficic training programs, resources, problem solving and advice.

About You:

Your capabilities will include:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships with stakeholders at a classroom, school, regional and statewide level.
  • Experience in making complex decisions and the provision of advice to senior leaders on key and emerging issues while considering the policy and procedure.
  • Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a broarder team.
  • Knowledge of best practice approaches to supporting students with diverse learning needs, and an understanding of the department of education's reasonable adjustment resourcing model.
  • Liaison and communication skills to enable the effective resolution of complex organisational issues, including the capacity and ability to negotiate or communicate on behalf of South East Regional office with various stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to build capacity in others, as well as lead through change.
