Description:

Lead the Ethical Standards Unit, driving integrity and compliance in the Department of Health through expert investigations and strategic collaborations | Based in Brisbane
The roleReporting to the Executive Director, Office of the Director-General, the Director, Ethical Standards Unit, Department of Health is responsible for leading a team dedicated to maintaining integrity within the organisation. This role involves managing the receipt, assessment, and reporting of suspected corrupt conduct to the Crime and Corruption Commission under the Crime and Corruption Act 2001. Additionally, the Director oversees the handling of public interest disclosures in accordance with the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010. These critical statutory functions are delegated by the Director-General, ensuring compliance and ethical standards are upheld across the department.
The successful personAs the successful candidate, you will exhibit confidence, drive, and strategic acumen, with specialised experience and knowledge in managing the coordination of ethical standards functions. Leveraging your advanced communication and leadership skills, you will investigate and negotiate outcomes on a range of confidential, complex, and sensitive matters involving various stakeholders. You will be analytical and politically astute, with demonstrable knowledge of relevant legislation and policy, and the ability to apply and implement this knowledge in departmental operations. Your expert knowledge, ideally supported by a relevant qualification, along with your commitment to ethical, equitable, and best practice outcomes, will drive the strategic direction and operational performance in ethical standards for the Department.
About the Office of the Director-GeneralThe Office of the Director-General and Department of Health is responsible for managing the public health system in Queensland, including: regulating health services; monitoring, developing and deploying programs to improve the health of Queenslanders; coordinating health services through Hospital and Health Services and non-government organisations; providing ambulance services; and working with other state and national agencies on policies and programs to improve the health of Queenslanders.
