The Information Services Directorate sits within the People and Corporate Services Division and provides integral services in the information and communication technology space to the entire Department. Information Services partner with our customers and stakeholders to support and drive the development of innovative, digital, and customer-focused outcomes and services.

The Opportunity
The Developer is accountable for high quality creation, testing and documenting of new and amended programs using agreed standards and tools. The Developer reports to the Business Automation Development Lead.

This role requires a good technical knowledge in all aspects of software development within the team’s operating context, ensuring that development efforts comply with the strategic direction and desired outcomes of the team.

The primary focus of this role involves undertaking application development and maintenance tasks using the Appian Platform and integrating other systems, working as part of a project team or independently as the task dictates, across all aspects of the team’s software portfolio.

This role also involves working closely with business stakeholders to implement solutions that meet objectives of business owners, and participation in a technical Community of Practice, including taking part in reviews of own work and leading reviews of colleagues’ work.

About You
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • Understanding of and responsiveness to customer needs and perspectives and provides a professional, positive experience while managing outcomes with DIT’s systems, processes, and policies.
  • Proven ability to work under limited direction, independently or as part of a team, identify performance outcomes, plan and coordinate activities, set priorities, achieve objectives within deadlines and make timely and well informed decisions.
  • The ability to act with urgency, accept and expect responsibility, positively support change and risk management initiatives and implement complex solutions within span of assigned functions.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, succinctly and accurately, in writing and verbally, in a professional and tactful manner including successfully negotiate and resolve conflict with staff and stakeholders.

Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to 12 months.

Remuneration
ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation.
