About the role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Laboratory Scientist to contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective diagnostic pathology service . In this role, you will apply your scientific and technical expertise to perform and evaluate a range of diagnostic techniques, ensuring the seamless day-to-day operation of the service. You will also play a key role in problem-solving, planning, execution, analysis, and reporting to maintain and enhance the accuracy and reliability of laboratory testing.
Beyond routine diagnostic work, you will contribute to the development and adoption of new techniques and methodologies in consultation with senior staff. Additionally, you will assist in the training and supervision of medical and technical laboratory staff, as well as support the department's teaching and research activities. Working collaboratively with leadership, you will also have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the discipline, making this a rewarding and impactful role within the team.
About You
We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Scientist who is passionate about delivering high-quality diagnostic services. You will have strong scientific and technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Technical Expertise & Problem-Solving: Extensive experience in laboratory diagnostics, including HPLC, mass spectrometry, and quality control, with the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and testing procedures.
- Teamwork & Communication: Strong ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, provide clear written and verbal communication, and contribute to training and supervision of staff.
- Organisation & Initiative: Excellent time management skills, proactive in identifying and resolving issues, and capable of performing under pressure while adhering to strict laboratory standards.
- Regulatory & Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of laboratory disciplines, accreditation requirements, quality systems, and Work Health & Safety practices in a clinical pathology setting.
