Workshop Supervisor - Mt Thorley
We are seeking a Workshop Supervisor to join our team in Mt Thorley.
Our Workshop specialises in the overhaul and repair of Caterpillar equipment, providing our customers with mechanical support throughout each phase of their machine's lifetime. With a strong mechanical background, you will utilise your experience to oversee daily workshop operations and lead a growing team of Plant Mechanics, Trades Assistants, Auto Electricians and Apprentices. Your role will be pivotal in growing our team and expanding our workshop's capabilities.
One of the standout benefits of this position is its structured work schedule, offering a Monday to Friday roster - dayshift only. Step away from hands-on tasks while still playing a crucial role in enhancing our operations!
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of tradespeople, ensuring work is allocated accordingly to meet project timelines
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the business
- Promote and demonstrate safety behaviours and reporting processes to ensure an ongoing safe working environment
- Provide support and advice to the team as required to avoid delays
- Manage work orders effectively, ensuring productivity targets and quality standards are met
- Manage external vendors - establishing and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers or service providers
- Manage labour allocation of internal employees and external contractors to ensure efficient team operations
- Collaborate with our Area Manager to boost team growth and workshop capabilities
Skills & Experience
- Mechanical or Auto Electrical trade qualification with significant post-trade experience
- Experience with mobile plant maintenance essential
- Experience in component rebuilds highly desirable
- Strong Computer Literacy Skills (including MS Office Suite, SAP)
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads and delegate effectively
- Demonstrated ability to coach team members for high performance
- Values based approach to leadership with a demonstrated commitment to safety
- Experience with CAT SIS desirable
