The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Database Administrator to maintain, optimize, and enhance our SQL Server database environments.
Location: Brisbane-based with regular travel to Townsville
This role offers an opportunity to work on innovative projects while supporting and improving a dynamic database environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily health checks to ensure optimal database performance and proactively address potential issues.Manage database stability and contribute to future strategies aligned with industry best practices.Drive continuous improvement through automation, reporting, and tool deployment.Implement governance best practices to enhance database services for internal and external users.Perform maintenance tasks, including index rebuilds, statistics updates, and patching, to ensure system reliability.Collaborate closely with key business stakeholders while ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Essential Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in database administration within large organisations.Proficiency in SQL Server management, platform monitoring, and automation scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL).Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to provide technical and process recommendations.Expertise in managing system security, compliance, and performance optimisation.Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure while maintaining high standards.
Desirable Skills
Familiarity with SQL Server services such as SSRS and SSIS.Proficiency with tools like SQL Server Management Studio.Expertise in managing large datasets, schema design, and query optimisation.Advanced knowledge of SQL features and database security practices.
