HomePlace now has an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join their supportive team!
About the Opportunity
As HomePlace’s Accountant, you will support the Finance Lead in managing financial operations, acting as a backup during their absence, and assisting with the transition to a new business management system. You’ll also be providing cover for the Assistant Accountant and Payroll Officer, supporting payroll, billing, and reconciliation functions as needed.
Your roles and responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Preparing financial reports, reconciliations, and month-end processes
- Maintaining general ledger accuracy (journal entries, accruals, prepayments)
- Supporting with the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies
- Contributing to the smooth transition to the new business systems
- Streamlining the financial processes for greater efficiency
- Promoting a positive team communication and collaboration
- Comply with HomePlace’s safety and injury management procedures
About You
With demonstrated experience in costing and budgeting, and a track record in application of sound financial management and accounting concepts, processes, systems, and analyses, you will have excellent organisation, time management skills, and high attention to detail.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- A current NDIS screening clearance
- CA/CPA qualifications (preferred but not essential)
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll processing, and general accounting
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure
- Proficient in both verbal and written communication, with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
- A proactive approach to problem-solving
- A commitment to social justice principles
Ideally, you also have experience in the NDIS or not-for-profit sector and working with people with intellectual disabilities or complex healthcare needs, but this is not essential.
