The role

Reporting directly to the Executive Director Digital Health, the Senior Director is accountable for managing and end-to-end service delivery of multiple critical clinical systems for Queensland Health. This role leads clinical system support teams, including delivering projects from inception to completion, and provides leadership, management, and coordination for digital clinical applications and programs across Queensland Health's Hospital and Health Services.

The Senior Director collaborates with the broader Digital Health Branch to enhance clinical service delivery and workflows across Queensland Health. Leading a team of approximately 100 employees, including health practitioners, technical specialists, and clinical application professionals, the Senior Director ensures the support, maintenance, and enhancement of clinical solutions to enable frontline service delivery.

This role is pivotal in driving enhanced clinical performance through digital applications, managing complex stakeholder environments, and aligning the strategic direction of the Digital Health Branch with eHealth Queensland's objectives. The Senior Director also focuses on developing staff capability, managing digital contracts, and providing strategic advice on eHealth innovation, strategy, and governance.

The successful person

The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of contemporary, best-practice healthcare information technology initiatives and eHealth priorities, with a focus on delivering clinical ICT programs, projects, and services. They will have demonstrated experience working in complex organisations, engaging with a range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills are essential for managing a fast-evolving service delivery organisation, including the ability to communicate clearly and influence a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

The successful person will have experience in system leadership, risk management, and strategic direction-setting within complex environments. They will have a proven track record of working with clinical communities and stakeholders to drive large ICT change agendas, supporting exceptional healthcare delivery. An understanding of all components that underpin successful healthcare services, including people, facilities, equipment, operations, and technology, is crucial.

Extensive knowledge of ICT governance principles, contemporary ICT management techniques, and the role of ICT support and service delivery teams is required. The candidate must be able to operate as a collegial and collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary executive team.

Additionally it is a condition of employment for this role that the employee be and remain vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases during their employment.
