MBC Group aims to be a trusted partner in building surveying, accessibility and compliance and is currently in search of a DDA/Access Consultant to be a part of our dynamic and growing organisation.
Job Description and Key Responsibilities
- Assessing project documentation and liaising with clients to make recommendations in line with the Building Code of Australia, relevant Access Standards, and the Disability Discrimination Act.
- Reviewing architectural plans and designs to ensure compliance with accessibility standards and regulations.
- Generating detailed reports outlining areas of non-compliance and proposed solutions.
- Regularly reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented accessibility features.
- Making adjustments and improvements based on feedback and evolving accessibility standards.
- Engaging in continuous learning to stay informed about advancements in accessible design and disability accommodations.
- Networking with other accessibility professionals, disability advocates, and industry experts.
- Keeping timesheets for projects.
- Conducting research.
- Providing input for invoicing.
Ideally, you will have
- Proven experience working on large, complex commercial projects.
- Membership with the Association of Consultants in Access Australia (minimum Associate level desired).
- Excellent time management skills.

Qualifications & Competencies
- Strong prior experience as an Access Consultant, with a preference for experience in educational projects.
- Detailed understanding of statutory requirements and regulations, including the National Construction Code and associated Australian Standards.
- Tertiary qualifications in Access Consulting, Architecture, or Civil Engineering.
- Well-developed skills in oral and written communication over a wide spectrum of people (colleagues, clients, suppliers and general public) with the ability to discuss, persuade, convince and negotiate to resolve problems.
- Excellent organisation skills, able to work autonomously as well as the ability to multitask to ensure deadlines are met.
- Intermediate to advanced computer and keyboard skills and fully competent in the use of the Microsoft office package and Outlook
