About the Role
Carbon Link is seeking a reliable, efficient, and experienced professional to implement and manage the Financial Management Framework for Carbon Link. This will include collaborating across the business to improve the systems, support the team and grow the business. The position will work strategically and operationally, including being hands-on and getting into the detail.
There is room for growth in this role and this will require initiative, business acumen, influencing, and communication skills. This growth could include the application of general management knowledge in the development and achievement of company performance, through consultation with the Board, Managing Director, senior leaders, and other stakeholders.
This position will work individually and in a team environment to deliver exceptional outcomes and have a positive impact on the community in which we operate. As a team player this position will demonstrate initiative, business acumen, and an ability to work autonomously to deliver timely, quality outcomes that are aligned to the strategy.
This is a full-time role based in Brisbane or Gladstone, Qld. This position is required to travel and work on various sites, where we operate, to support the successful delivery of strategic and operational goals.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Through collaboration with identified stakeholders, implement continuous improvement and management of the Financial Management Framework.
- Support the Board and senior management team in achieving financial performance through analysis of financial data, reporting, monitoring of cashflow, budgeting, forecasting, profit and loss, expenditure control, and statutory obligations.
- Perform a range of general accounting duties, including maintaining and managing financial records, keeping track of accounts, R&D project expenses and rebate applications, account analytics, scenario analysis
- Verify the accuracy of procedures used for recording financial transactions through the accounting software.
- Prepare financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards for reporting to the board.
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of related risk management and governance processes including statutory reporting, records management, insurances, auditing, and continuous improvement.
- Establish systems and plans that ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and industry standards.
- Perform other duties that are within level of ability, skill, and experience.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Economics and/or equivalent years of experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA)
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of financial and accounting standards, legislation, and associated practices
- Experience in systems implementations and upgrades
- Expertise in excel and financial modelling
- Familiarity with the R&D tax credit processes would be advantageous
- Expertise in developing relationships and negotiating with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong ability to analyse critical information and make sound decisions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to identify insights and trends in financial data to support informed Board decisions
- Knowledge of the agricultural and carbon farming industry (desirable)
- Capable of overseeing the implementation and management of policies, practices, and processes
