About the Role
The Patient Services Clerk (PSC) will provide crucial administrative support and reception duties within a busy Emergency Department. You will use your excellent customer-service skills in handling patient enquiries, via telephone and in person, in an efficient, courteous and helpful manner. A key component of the role is ensuring patient confidentiality is preserved at all times.
- Create patient records and complete all necessary information accurately and in line with current procedures
- Admit and discharge patients
- Maintain a high level of customer service and professional standards in answering and directing phone calls
- Take payments for overseas patients
- Liaise with patients, doctors, nurses and other members of multidisciplinary team
- Run reports and prepare Medical Records to be scanned
The classification for this position will be HS1 - HS17 ($58,442 - $64,610 per annum pro rata).
Your Contribution
- Previous experience in a similar position is required
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask at all times
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to problem solve and remain calm and polite under pressure
- A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain

About the Emergency Department
The Emergency Department at St Vincent’s Hospital provides services to patients requiring Emergency Care. There are 41 cubicles including acute, short stay, fast track, resuscitation and 6 Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol cubicles. The department fosters a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment that is challenging, rewarding and dynamic.
