About the role
As a Biodiversity Offsets Officer at Yarra Ranges Council, you will play a key role in ensuring immediate service delivery of the Biodiversity Offsets Program ensuring compliance with State and Council policies. Your expertise will guide ecological assessments, statutory approvals, and long-term biodiversity gains across the region. You’ll also educate and engage stakeholders, promoting the importance of biodiversity offsets. If you're passionate about conservation and skilled in ecological management, this is your chance to make a lasting impact on the region’s natural environment.
- This is a part-time temporary position (18 hours per week for one year).
- This is a Band 6 role with a salary hourly rate between $48.36 and $52.71 per hour, plus superannuation.

Experience and skills we’re looking for
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Exceptional communication and report writing skills, engaging confidently with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong statutory planning skills to translate legislation into effective, enforceable biodiversity offsets.
- Experience in project management experience, efficiently managing resources to deliver successful outcomes.
- Knowledge of the current legislative environment as it applies to biodiversity conservation and waterway protection.
- A collaborative, analytical approach to resolving challenges with both internal and external partners.
