Description:
This role provides a great opportunity to support the delivery of floodplain management policy activities, with a focus on improving the incorporation of flood studies into planning schemes and driving reforms to floodplain strategy to support other government priorities such as the Plan for Victoria, Victoria's Housing statement and Victoria's big build.
This role contributes to policy advice in relation to appropriate development on floodplains, in particular how it relates to the planning scheme and building regulations, and the planned review of the Victorian Floodplain Management Strategy.
You will work collaboratively with Catchment Management Authorities, Local Government, Department of Transport and Planning and Water Corporations including Melbourne Water in addressing policy issues in regard to floodplain management.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- A degree in planning or equivalent professional experience is preferred
- An understanding of Victorian planning scheme and or Victorian Water Act is preferred
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
