The Opportunity
Our employment team is looking for an experienced employment lawyer to join the team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of workplace matters including:
Providing day to day employment law guidance to HR and in-house legal clientsAdvising on and representing clients in a variety of employment related claims, including claims for unfair dismissal, adverse action, discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of contract and underpayment of wagesDealing with industrial relations issues, including awards and enterprise bargainingAdvising on WHS and managing with incidentsReviewing and drafting of contracts, policies, and settlement deedsSupporting our corporate team on all people aspects of mergers and acquisitionsUndertaking workplace investigations for clients; andDelivering training to clients on HR related topics.
We represent clients across a diverse range of industries and sectors which makes for an interesting, varied, and demanding practice and being a senior member of the team, you will be comfortable leading and mentoring junior lawyers. In addition to this, you will work with the principal across a range of business development activities to support the continued growth of the practice.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current New South Wales practising certificateDemonstrated experience across a range of general employment and IR mattersExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling a practical and commercial approach to be takenConfidence to deal with clients and work collaboratively with other practice groupsProven ability to supervise and develop junior lawyersHigh degree of initiative, dedication and organisational ability with a strong client and commercial focusAbility to manage a busy workload and work to tight deadlinesAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionA strong, plain language communication style
