This role requires a professional who can engage with stakeholders at all levels, manage risks, and oversee project documentation while ensuring compliance with Defence systems and policies.If you have a strong background in project coordination, governance, and risk management, and you’re ready to contribute to Australia's Defence capability, this opportunity is for you!What You’ll Be Doing As a Project Support Officer, you will work under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complexproject management tasks within an integrated workforce. Your responsibilities will include: Project Planning & Execution✅ Lead the planning and execution of Defence projects, ensuring they meet required scope, schedule, risk, budget, and resource constraints.✅ Support the Capability Manager by preparing and progressing project/product submissions according to the One Defence Capability System (ODCS).✅ Manage and oversee project lifecycles, ensuring compliance with CASG 2.0 and Defence Strategic Review (DSR) requirements. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration✅ Liaise with stakeholders across multiple levels, acting as the primary contact for project-related enquiries.✅ Establish and maintain strong working relationships to ensure successful delivery of Defence projects.✅ Work closely with Commonwealth and MSP (Managed Service Provider) teams to align project goals with organisational objectives. Governance, Documentation & Compliance✅ Develop, update, and maintain project documentation, including Integrated Project/Product Management Plans (iPMP).✅ Ensure projects adhere to the CASG Business Management System (BMS), Project Controls Function policies, procedures, and guidelines.✅ Monitor compliance with regulatory frameworks, including US Export Control Regulations (Title 22, §126.1). Reporting & Risk Management✅ Track project progress and deliverables using Defence management systems such as PPRIP (Project Performance Reporting and Improvement Program) and SPMS (Schedule Performance Management System).✅ Identify, manage, and mitigate risks, issues, and opportunities within the project scope.✅ Provide regular reports and insights to leadership, ensuring transparency and proactive issue resolution. Mentorship & SME Support✅ Offer subject matter expertise (SME) guidance to project teams.✅ Provide mentorship and coaching to less experienced team members to enhance capability within the organisation.What You Need to Succeed To thrive in this role, you will need:️ Security Clearance: NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) is mandatory. Candidates must have or be eligible for this clearance. Understanding of Defence Systems Experience working with CASG 2.0, ERP, and Defence Strategic Review (DSR) frameworks. Knowledge of One Defence Capability System (ODCS) requirements, including gates, reviews, and committee submissions. Risk & Issue Management Expertise Strong ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks within project environments. Experience handling issues and opportunities to ensure project objectives are met.️ Familiarity with Defence Project Management Tools Hands-on experience using PPRIP, SPMS, and iPMP for project reporting and tracking. Ability to interpret and manage project controls, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. Strong Communication & Stakeholder Management Skills Demonstrated ability to engage and liaise with internal and external stakeholders. Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve project outcomes. US Export Control Compliance Candidates must comply with US Code of Federal Regulations Title 22, §126.1, regarding restricted nations and dual-nationality considerations. Additional Requirements Ability to access Defence Protected Environment (DPE) and Defence Secure Environment (DSE) when required.
