Who is Harbison

Harbison is a charitable, community-owned, not-for-profit organisation that provides residential and non-residential care and support services for aged or disabled people, including a range of support services and systems to assist aged and disabled people to achieve maximum independence and integration within a residential or community setting, education and training of professionals and other care providers, and activities which are incidental or conducive to these objectives.

Currently, Harbison is an approved aged care provider, registered NDIS provider, approved childcare provider, retirement village owner, and one of the largest employers in the Southern Highlands. Harbison is governed by a Board of Directors which appoints a Chief Executive Officer who is delegated with day-to-day responsibility for the organisation.

Primary purpose of the role

The Roster Coordinator is responsible for supporting the allocation of workforce resources across Harbison to achieve AN-ACC requirements and within a set budget . The role is required to ensure resourcing meets demand for service delivery and maximises the effectiveness and efficiency of Harbison's operations, within the constraints and requirements of the relevant Enterprise Agreement and/or Award.

Key accountabilities

  • Consult with relevant managers to develop rosters that ensure the appropriate skill mix for the facility.
  • Develop rosters in line with budget requirements and resident needs, in consultation with relevant managers.
  • Prepare fortnightly rosters and manage staff movements to maintain resident preferences, needs and goals.
  • Publish rosters within timeframe determined by relevant Enterprise Agreement or Award
  • Ensure that staff contracted hours are reflected in the published roster.
  • Act on annual leave requests in a timely manner and assist managers with leave management planning to support fatigue management.
  • Implement roster changes in a timely manner and resolve roster issues as they arise.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and managers.
  • Maintain good wage budget outcomes and roster staff within the confines of enterprise agreement and individual contract arrangements.
  • Provide support to payroll as required.
  • Assist the education team with rostering of training.
  • Provide recommendations to the management team regarding casual conversions, contract changes, key risks, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Generate reports as required by managers.
  • Assist with training and implementation of rostering system changes.
  • Assisting with the phone loop and responding to calls as required.
  • Other tasks as advised by Harbison and within reasonable scope of the role

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in administrative tasks, including advanced computer literacy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Thorough understanding of enterprise agreement requirements and practical application in a workplace setting
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing demands.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion with sensitive information.
  • Outstanding relationship building skills with a customer/client centric approach.
  • Positive and proactive attitude with a strong "can-do" approach to work.
