The City of Launceston is seeking an individual with a passion for governance, well developed minute taking skills and an eye for detail to fill the following permanent full-time position:
Position Title: Administration Officer - Governance Support
Position Number: POS0978
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented and highly organised Administration Officer to prepare agendas and minutes for Council Meetings and assist with the smooth operation of the City of Launceston’s Management System, the repository for our policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will play a key role in administrative support, contributing to efficient meeting management and the upkeep of the organisation's Management System.
The role will include the review and maintenance of meeting templates and user databases, and training employees in the use of agenda preparation tools.
You will be a strong listener and have the ability to capture and communicate information effectively, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of Local Government processes and governance would be desirable.
We are looking for someone who has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Above-average proof reading skills and attention to detail;
- Well-developed written and verbal communications skills;
- Well-developed technical skills with corporate software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Adobe and Excel; the ability to acquire technical skills in the operation of the audio-streaming equipment used at Council meetings;
- Excellent minute-taking skills - accuracy, speed, the confidence to ask for clarification when needed, and an understanding of meeting procedures; and
- Ability to exercise initiative, judgment and discretion, often in a high-pressure environment.
