Description:
We are looking for a suitably qualified Bushfire Mitigation Field Officer to join the team. You will be responsible for supporting the on-ground delivery of Council’s Bushfire Management Strategy, working to manage bushfire risk in the Glenorchy Council area. Duties include maintaining fire trails and fire breaks, assisting in conducting fuel reduction burns, monitoring fuel loads, conducting weed management, and supporting the other members of the Bushfire Mitigation Team. This role also involves supporting the Recreation and Environment Team and broader Works activities.
The successful applicant will have:
- Experience in outdoors/arduous/remote work including 4WD operation.
- Demonstrated experience in biodiversity conservation and management, particularly bushfire and weed management field operations.
- Demonstrated ability and experience operating small plant and machinery correctly and safely.
- Good written and verbal communication, computer use, and problem-solving skills.
Essential Licences required:
- Drivers Licence - Manual
Position Hours: Full-Time, 76 hours fortnight.
Salary range: $64,500.94 to $67,889.70 plus superannuation
