Position Details
Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a permanent, Library and Archives Officer to become an integral part of the College’s Library Department, commencing Term 1, 2025 as soon as practicable.
We are seeking a knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming individual to work alongside the Senior Library Technician and the Library Coordinator to support library operations through knowledge and administrative skills.
The role will also create, organise, implement and maintain the College archives to ensure efficient information access.
This position is available for 4 days, 29.5 hours per week for 40 weeks per annum:
Tuesday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Wednesday 8:00am to 4:00pm
Thursday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Friday 8:00am to 3:30pm
Library
In collaboration with the Senior Library Technician and Library Coordinator, the position will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are inclusive of, but not limited to:
Overseeing the circulation processes, shelving and general upkeep of the library’s collection, ensuring accessibility and organisation Generating overdue notices, fines or borrowing restrictions Preparing new resources by stamping, labelling, barcoding and covering books Accessioning and cataloguing periodicals, ensure accurate records and accessibility Assisting with student and class bookings, providing supervision where necessary
Archives
Accessioning, labelling and storing historical records, photographs and artworks, ensuring proper documentation and conservation Facilitating the migration of records to updated technologies
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of organisational and time management skills, whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College.
The successful applicant will also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, enabling harmonious and positive relationships with staff and students.
Knowledge of the use of an automated Library Management System, preferably in a secondary school will also be viewed favourably.
Qualifications Required
Terms of Employment:
Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC) Hold a current National Police Clearance from the Department of Education Hold or be working towards an Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School Annually complete the online Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training and any other CEWA mandatory training
