About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
The NDIS Commission works with people with disability, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), governments and the sector who together deliver the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

About the Role
Senior Lawyers lead the provision of legal services to the NDIS Commission across the full range of its activities. The Compliance and Enforcement Team and Legislation and Regulatory Framework Team are currently recruiting. Work conducted by these teams will include:
- advising on the application of legislation administered by the Commission, and problem-solving and supporting the making of robust administrative decisions made under the legislative framework;
- advising on compliance and enforcement matters;
- working closely with the Commissioner and regulatory areas to continuously improve the regulatory framework, including advising on and supporting end to end changes to the Commission’s legislative framework;
- providing legal advice and supporting the development of New Policy Proposals and Drafting Instructions relevant to legislative amendments;
Duties of the role
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- delivering and leading the delivery of legal and related services to the Commission;
- supervising, mentoring and developing junior staff;
- driving the workplace and service culture and contributing to the management of the Branch;

The role would suit critical and creative thinkers with a passion for the law, especially human rights law, regulatory law, commercial law, employment & workplace relations law, information law, administrative law, and legal policy & legislation development.
To be successful in the role, you must thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment and enjoy juggling multiple competing and constantly evolving priorities. You must be flexible and prepared to work on a variety of different matters. You will need to be comfortable working in an exciting environment of constant change, reform and innovation, because of the pace at which the Commission is expanding and evolving.
In addition, the successful candidates will have:
- demonstrated strong technical legal skills;
- strong track record in delivering, and leading the delivery of, consistent and timely high quality legal services in an evolving and complex environment, with a strong focus on client service;
- an innovative approach to resolving complex issues with creative thinking and a collaborative approach to work;
