The Role The Systems Control Engineer role is essential in supporting our sites in meeting safety, production, quality and availability targets. As a skilled Electrical Engineer, the role will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the sites control system upgrade projects. This is a rare opportunity within the business and brings the opportunity to travel to other sites nationally, being a part of the boarder Orora team. The position can be based at any one of our major cans sites in Melbourne, Dandenong – Sydney, Revesby – Brisbane, Rocklea and Perth, Canning Vale. Reporting into the General Manager Technical and working Monday to Friday the key responsibilities of the Systems Control Engineer will include but are not limited to: Design, develop, and implement control systems to optimise production efficiency and quality Develop and maintain documentation for control systems, including schematics, diagrams, and software program. Perform regular maintenance on electrical and control systems to ensure optimal performance. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazard. Provide technical support and training to team members to enhance their understanding of electrical systems and automation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime. Respond to machine breakdowns and take corrective action promptly. Carry out modifications to machines and equipment under instructions from the Engineering Manager. Install machinery, tools, and equipment to specifications. What We’re Looking For A trade or tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering 5-10 years’ experience within similar industry and role to Manufacturing, Mining, Industrial, FMC. Proven experience in supporting and implementing sustainable initiatives, systems and processes. Understanding of electrical systems or mechanical tooling, building services, and engineering document management Experience with PLC programming and HMI development. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO). Familiar with tools such as MEX, logbooks, PM check sheets, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and technical manuals.
