The Transport Planner reports directly to the National Operations Manager and is responsible for managing the operational daily transport activities (Vehicle load planning) and customer satisfaction from all customer DCs by engaging various carriers to achieve customer expectations in the provision of freight services.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for Planning & Co-ordination of daily transport activities (collections and deliveries) across multiple DC’s and carriers
- Responsible for the timely distribution of carrier requirements (Load plans, etc) daily
- Manage the daily communication activities with all carriers relating to load plans, vehicle requirements, volume changes and overflow. Including:-
- Co-ordinate timeslots with the customer’s DC’s
- Co-ordinate collection timeslots with distribution and delivery points
- Communicate daily transport collection requirements with Carriers and Customers stakeholders
- Be pro-active by confirming daily requirements as required with the customer, carrier and AFS team
- Liaison with all DC’s, Customer DC’s, Transport Providers and Customers as required
- Co-ordinate Return collection from the customers customer ensuring pallets on-hand is maintained
- Reporting
- Manage the accuracy of the status of consignments, ensuring POD/COD upload as required
- Handle issues register and escalate failures to the carriers for investigation and remedy
- Manage receiver limitations and access details, to ensure that the correct vehicle is being used for delivery
- Management of CHEP pallet POD uploads
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- Data and Analytics understanding
- Strong understanding of vehicle types, equipment, capacities and limitations
- Strong understanding of vehicle loading process, travel times and delivery site processes, particularly at DC’s
- Knowledge of the freight industry
- Knowledge of Legislative requirements (COR) of the transport industry
- Project and time Management
- Capability to interact with senior management at Customer, DC and carrier levels
- Experience in providing a high level of customer service with operational demands (Customer Centricity)
Preferred
- Qualification in Transport and Logistics desirable
- Previous experience in managing various carrier in load planning and allocating relevant vehicles, daily operational planned transport changes and customer demands
