Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Corporate Communications Lead is responsible for managing corporate communication strategies, reputation, and issues across a complex stakeholder network. In addition to communications leadership, you will oversee the reception team, ensuring smooth guest services, enquiry management, and complaint resolution. You’ll be instrumental in driving M&OP’s strategic communications, maintaining a positive public image, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders and government entities.
Here are some of the exciting things you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in:
Communications Strategy & LeadershipYou’ll develop and deliver corporate communications strategies to shape M&OP’s reputation and narrative, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. You will provide advice to internal stakeholders and senior executives to guide communication activities that support key initiatives.
Reputation & Public RelationsYou will lead media relations, overseeing proactive and reactive media strategies that promote positive stories, protect the precinct’s reputation, and mitigate emerging issues. You will develop media plans, manage media inquiries, and prepare content for press releases, statements, and articles.
Stakeholder EngagementAs the primary point of contact for government and key stakeholders, you’ll build strong relationships and ensure alignment with government expectations. You’ll manage reporting on the Ministerial Statement of Expectations, producing the annual report, and supporting stakeholder communications frameworks.
Social & Community ImpactYou will develop communication programs that highlight M&OP’s social and community outcomes, including the Reconciliation Action Plan and charitable initiatives. You’ll work alongside internal teams to promote M&OP’s positive contributions to the community.
LeadershipYou’ll lead the corporate communications function and the reception team, ensuring high performance and alignment with M&OP’s values and strategic objectives. You’ll manage budgets, oversee project deliverables, and ensure excellent customer service at M&OP reception.
Please note, this role will be on a 12-month fixed term contract.
What you will bring to the roleManagement and leadership experience in corporate communications, with a strong focus on strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and media relations.Proven experience in a complex, high-profile, and high-risk environment, where you’ve successfully built and maintained relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, media, and industry partners.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to create professional, high-quality content for multiple audiences.Strong leadership capabilities with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.A strong understanding of the media landscape, with the ability to manage both proactive and reactive media relations.A proactive and creative approach to problem-solving, with a strategic mindset and the ability to manage competing priorities.Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.A strong track record in crisis communications and issues management, with the ability to mitigate reputational risks effectively.
