To provide high level facility administration, ensuring that the day-to-day operation of the Highlander Community Centre is undertaken and delivered.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the opening and activation of the new Highlander Community Centre.
  • Ensure effective and efficient day-to-day administration of the Highlander Community Centre as per the Operational Manual and associated procedures.
  • Ensure the facility is maintained and well presented to a high standard and any maintenance and cleaning issues are dealt with promptly through liaison with the appropriate department.
  • Administer the centre’s booking system, including point of contact enquiries and administration of accounting processes.
  • Compile reports and prepare external correspondence as delegated by the Community Centre Leader.
  • Manage customer service requests, complaints, and general enquiries.
  • Help promote and support the participation of a wide range of community and centre tenants in the facility and Council programs through collaborative approaches.
  • Assist the Community Centre Leader to design, organise and deliver community events and activities within the facility.
  • Work in collaboration with facility tenants, user groups and hirers to ensure WHS requirements, risk management, security and the emergency evacuation procedures and processors are undertaken and maintained.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated experience, understanding and commitment to community development practice and principles.
  • Demonstrated high level administrative/reception and customer service skills.
  • Highly developed computer skills including use of the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), as well as email and internet applications.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage facility booking systems and associated processes.
  • Proven ability in developing and maintaining effective working relationships, which may occasionally be complex with internal and external stakeholders and staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in written form to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures with an ability to write reports and to prepare external correspondence.
  • Expertise in using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and various Council software applications including Finance One, OpenCities, Indesign and TRIM.

Required Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification and/or considerable Administration/Reception and customer service experience in the community sector.
  • Current driver’s licence.
