Job description:An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HSEQ Manager to join our team. This role is based in our Canberra office and will have coverage across NSW.
Key Responsibilities:Provide HSEQ leadership and ensure compliance with legal, client, and internal management system requirements. Foster and promote the business HSEQ strategy, plan and operational requirements at all levels. Collaborate with project teams to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards. Develop, implement, and review SOPs, SWMSs, policies, procedures and supporting systems, ensuring that all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and standards are met Lead the business OHS Governance requirements, with monthly reporting to executive team. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, non-compliance issues, and quality gaps. Provide guidance and recommendations for improvement. Monitor and evaluate incident reports, near misses, and safety observations. Implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize risks and enhance workplace safety. Coordinate with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and certification bodies to ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and quality standards. Track and analyse safety and quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Prepare reports and present findings to management. Stay updated with industry best practices, regulations, and emerging trends in health, safety, and quality management. Proactively integrate relevant changes into business processes and procedures. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting safety awareness and quality consciousness among all employees. Ensure appropriate actions are taken to implement WHS policies, WHS procedures and legislative requirements across the business. Proactively engage with operators, site managers to ensure HSEQ requirements are implemented, monitored and adjusted as required. Facilitate rehabilitation of injured workers in conjunction with HR services. Establish and maintain effective training programs for employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders to promote a safety-conscious culture and enhance overall quality performance.
About YouFormal qualifications in HSEQ – Degree, Diploma or CERT IV OH&S Stable work history with a minimum 5+ years’ recent experience working in an HSEQ role in a civil/construction Experience managing HSEQ functions on projects involving earthwork/civil construction highly beneficial. Strong understanding of AS / NZS ISO 9001 – 2015, AS/NZS 4801, AS/NZS ISO 14001-2004, AS/NZS 18001-2007. Excellent all-round communication skills and great ability to impart knowledge to positively influence the overall HSEQ culture Strong attention to detail to ensure HSEQ systems and policies are maintained and always compliant to current legislation. Proficient in using relevant software applications and tools to track, analyse, and report safety and quality data. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and inspire teams to achieve safety and quality goals. Existing rights to live and work in Australia
