Health and Safety Team
Petuna is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate safety professional to contribute to a culture of safety, wellbeing, and compliance within a leading aquaculture company.
The roster for the successful candidate will be structured in consultation with the candidate and could include a 4:3 arrangement to enable a drive-in-drive-out arrangement. If required accommodation will be provided when on site.

Duties
Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager based at our head office in Devonport, this position will be the key site-based safety resource in Strahan. Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Ensuring site compliance with Petuna’s Safety Management System and overseeing contractor safety requirements.
- Assisting in the creation of new and review of existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and Permits to Work.
- Conducting on-site safety audits and equipment inspections.
- Maintaining the site risk register and supporting on-site management with risk assessment and hazard controls.
- Leading and supporting incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are assigned and completed.
- Delivering safety inductions, toolbox talks, and safety related training sessions.
- Monitoring injured workers and managing Return to Work Plans.
- Maintaining safety records, registers, and compliance documentation.
- Supporting site safety meetings, promoting a positive safety culture, and encouraging adherence to our safety ‘non-negotiables.’
- Assisting in maintaining emergency response and traffic management plans.
Qualifications Required
We are looking for a proactive and safety-focused individual with:
- A Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (or equivalent qualification).
- A solid understanding of safety policies, risk management, and legal requirements.
- Experience in a similar safety role, preferably in aquaculture, agriculture, or a related industry.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in delivering safety training and facilitating group discussions.
- Incident investigation knowledge (ICAM or similar methodology preferred).
- A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Current Right to work in Australia.
