About the role:
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team at our Adelaide Head Office. This role plays a crucial part in supporting financial reporting, accounts receivable, and compliance processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in day-to-day accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, the ability to work across multiple teams, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. What’ you’ll do:
Reporting to the Corporate Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting in month-end processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
- Preparing and lodging BAS and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns to ensure compliance.
- Maintaining the fixed assets register, processing additions, disposals, and depreciation journals.
- Supporting capital expenditure (CapEx) monitoring, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
- Managing lease schedules, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies.
- Supporting accounts receivable (AR) functions, ensuring timely collection and resolution of outstanding accounts.
- Assisting with audit processes and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
About you:
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Accounting or similar qualification.
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience with JDE and Hubble is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards and financial processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and support finance initiatives.
