Peregrine is a privately held company specialising in property development and management and diversified investments.

Its core activities comprise:

  1. Developments: property construction and development, focussing on convenience and retail sites and bespoke commercial projects.
  2. Property: ownership and management of a diversified real estate portfolio including retail, commercial and industrial properties.
  3. Family office: investment and administration.
  4. Motorsport: operation of The Bend and Mallala motorsport precincts.

About the role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accountant supports the finance function, and Peregrine’s business operations. This role assists with the preparation of information required by Peregrine to manage our business and meet our reporting obligations. You will be responsible for reviewing and reconciling accounts and completing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded. This is a 12 month contract role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, recommend and prepare corrections for anomalies in the accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Review and approve invoices
  • Support internal accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
  • Manage accounting transactions
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare tax-specific entries and adjustments in the accounts
  • Support with other accounting projects
  • Audit financial transactions and documents
  • Contribute to the preparation of information for specific ATO reviews and requests
  • Collaborate seamlessly with external and internal partners (including tax agents, auditors, accountants, regulatory bodies etc.) to provide financial insights and address inquiries
  • Assist in the preparation of activity statements, adhering to relevant tax guidelines and regulations
  • Provide essential documentation to facilitate both internal and external audit processes
  • Assist with other tasks as requested from time to time
  • Comply with financial policies and regulations

We are looking for a hands-on Accountant who supports the finance department and can look out of the box. We are seeking for an individual who consistently demonstrate high levels of accountability, accuracy and exceptional performance. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work independently, comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the finance department. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in accounting and a flair for numbers.

Key skills and experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in, Accounting, Finance, Business or relevant field
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and a high degree of initiative
  • Excellent understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Experience across a wide range of accounting functions
  • Proven organisational and multitasking ability to achieve results
  • Strong level of accuracy
  • Ability to take responsibility and be accountable for workload
  • Able to work autonomously and as a member of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (Dynamics 365 Business Central) is a plus
  • Qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is a plus but not required
  • CA or CPA with at least 4+ years in a financial accountant role.
