Full-Time | 3 month Contract
Are you an experienced Accountant with a strong background in financial management, analysis, and reporting? A well-regarded public sector organisation is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join their Finance & Business Intelligence team.
About The Role
As an Accountant (ASO3), you will play a critical role in ensuring financial compliance, supporting budgeting processes, and delivering high-quality financial reporting and analysis. You will collaborate with key stakeholders across government agencies, external financial partners, and internal teams to drive operational excellence and financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in financial reconciliation, reporting, and compliance processes. Support budget forecasting and performance analysis. Maintain the integrity of financial records, including accrual journals and asset registers. Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and audit processes. Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve decision-making. Ensure adherence to financial policies, government regulations, and audit standards. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Treasury, auditors, and external service providers.
About You
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Commerce (majoring in Accounting).Strong experience in management accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.Knowledge of accrual accounting standards, financial principles, and best practices.Ability to provide sound financial advice and analysis on business decisions.High-level attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and trust.Proficiency in financial systems, reporting tools (e.g., MS Excel, PowerBI), and Office 365.Previous experience in the public sector is highly desirable.
