Make an impact at Serco
As an Aboriginal Health Worker at Acacia Prison, you will play a key role in assessing the health needs of Aboriginal patients and supporting the delivery of culturally appropriate healthcare. Working closely with the Registered Nurse, you will be the first point of contact for Aboriginal patients during their initial health assessment, ensuring their access to quality healthcare services and promoting their rehabilitation and reintegration. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Wooroloo, WA.

As an Aboriginal Health Worker in the Health team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Assisting with health assessments and managing patient care plans
  • Providing culturally sensitive healthcare services to Aboriginal patients
  • Collaborating with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals
  • Administering medications and performing clinical procedures within your scope of practice
  • Supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of patients through engagement in health programs
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and participating in quality improvement initiatives

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Certificate II or higher in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
  • Experience working in primary healthcare settings, with knowledge of clinical assessment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to a diverse range of stakeholders
  • A commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Personal integrity, ethical behavior, and professionalism
