Expression of Interest: Female Project Officer (CALD Community) – 12-Month Fixed Term Contract
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Female Project Officer from the targeted CaLD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) community for a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in achieving the project’s aim and outcomes by engaging with the community and stakeholders to deliver effective and culturally appropriate interventions.
Project Aim
To prevent and reduce the prevalence of forced marriage in Western Australia, particularly among CaLD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) communities.
Project Outcomes
- Increased knowledge and awareness of women’s rights, human rights, and forced marriage in Australia for CaLD community members (including men and faith and community leaders).
- Increased knowledge of how to identify and report forced marriage for CaLD community members (including men and faith and community leaders).
- Increased confidence and skills to recognise and respond to signs of forced marriage.
- Increased confidence and skills to seek support if at risk of forced marriage.
- Project Objectives
- Community and Professional Engagement:
- Collaborate with CaLD community members and experts to design culturally sensitive education sessions and resources.
- Work with key stakeholders through a project advisory, including multicultural organisations and service providers, to provide strategic guidance and deliver targeted interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver education sessions and resources on women’s rights, human rights, and forced marriage.
- Engage with CaLD community members, including men and faith and community leaders, to raise awareness and knowledge about forced marriage.
- Provide support and guidance to individuals at risk of forced marriage, helping them to seek appropriate assistance.
- Collaborate with multicultural organisations and service providers to ensure the project’s objectives are met.
- Participate in project advisory meetings and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong understanding of the issues surrounding forced marriage and the rights of women and girls.
- Experience working with CaLD communities, particularly in a community engagement or educational role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse community members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and time management skills.
- Fluency in one or more languages spoken within the targeted CaLD community is highly desirable.
