About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Team Leader, as part of our newly created SIL team, to oversee the day-to-day operations of the SIL Home and lead a team of up to approx. 15 SIL Support Workers in each house. As an integral part of our organisation, your previous experience in a leadership position within the disability sector will play a crucial role in ensuring that our programs and SIL services run efficiently, allowing us to focus on enhancing the lives and well-being of our clients and ensure the focus of the team is always on supporting our clients to lead a fulfilling and more independent life.
As the SIL Team Lead, you will participate in the Emergency After Hours roster and may be required to provide some direct supports to our clients in the SIL home as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Working closely with the SIL Business Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the SIL home including, providing support and house management for tenants
- Lead, mentor and support a team of up to approx. 15 SIL Support Workers per home including recruitment and onboarding, performance management, leave/expenses approvals and coaching of staff
- Supporting your team in providing high-quality services in line with participant support plans, goals and outcomes
- Manage staff rostering (forward, incidental and relevant rostering administration tasks) to match worker capabilities with client needs and preferences, ensuring appropriate level of SIL Support Workers to meet our client needs at all times
- Model and reinforce values in organisation culture and practice
- Foster and develop a capable workforce, supporting team to understand expectations, provide feedback and develop their capabilities
- Ensure client records are accurately maintained in all systems in line with documentation guidelines
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation
- Oversee all feedback and adverse events, ensuring these are monitored, actioned and reported on as per internal policies
- Providing support to our clients with their daily routines, skills and high intensity supports within client support plans as required
- Attend all mandatory training and willing to undertake complex task training as needed to meet the support needs of our clients.
- Comply with all internal policies and procedures including NDIS Code of Conduct
- Participate in the Emergency After Hours roster as required
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Team Leader in Supported Independent Living or related role within the disability or community services sector
- Proven experience working with people with disability and supporting participants with high intensity support needs having a clinical background is an advanced
- In-depth knowledge of NDIS frameworks, compliance, and reporting requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in relevant software and systems used in case management and reporting
- Compassion and empathy for individuals with disabilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Community Services or Health related field
- Strong leadership skills and proven experience of leading a team
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Current Driver License and access to reliable vehicle
