To strengthen their site-based financial leadership, they are seeking a Senior Mine Accountant to take ownership of the accounting function and provide key financial insights.
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to play a pivotal role in financial oversight at an operational level. The Senior Mine Accountant will lead key aspects of financial management, ensuring rigorous cost control, accurate budgeting, and effective capital planning. The role requires expertise in costing, unit rates, and labour cost management, as well as proficiency in SAP and XERAS. With a $500 million capital investment program in progress, this is a career-defining opportunity to support the long-term growth of a major mining operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site-based accounting, costing, and financial reporting.
- Oversee capital and operating cost control, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Provide financial insights on labour costs, unit rates, and site operations.
- Work closely with site leadership to drive cost efficiency and business improvement.
- Support the financial management of a new pit development and major capital projects.
- Take ownership of financial reporting, SAP/XERAS systems, and commercial governance.
- Mentor and support the on-site accounting team, ensuring strong financial discipline.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.
- CPA/CA qualified (or working towards it).
- Strong experience in mine site accounting or financial management in the resources sector.
- Hands-on expertise with SAP.
- Experience in cost control, budgeting, and financial modelling.
- Ability to interpret unit rates and labour cost structures.
- Strong problem-solving and leadership capabilities.
- Lead financial operations for a major mining operation with a long mine life.
- Work with an energetic and motivated commercial team.
- Exposure to large-scale capital investment projects.
