We are seeking an executive professional to join our team working to protect the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. As a Director, you will lead a team providing strategic advice and project management excellence in relation to a number of marine management interventions designed to protect the Great Barrier Reef. The team is focussed on delivering the Crown-of-thorns Starfish Control Program and supporting the delivery of the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program. Directors are considered part of a leadership group at the Reef Authority with responsibilities for staff and budget management, and an expectation of supporting broader stewardship initiatives across the agency.About You

- You are experienced in setting and meeting strategic objectives, and ensuring appropriate resource development and management.
- You will be a very experienced Project Manager with a proven track record in managing complex projects including those that involved outsourcing of operational works.
- You will have excellent negotiation skills and the proven ability to work collaboratively with individuals, stakeholder groups and management.
- You have a proven track record in high-level problem solving with an emphasis on planning and project management of complex environmental issues.
- You will have extensive experience in contract management and government procurement.
The key duties of the position include
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic environment to deliver high quality outcomes, meet deadlines and achieve organisational goals.
- Deliver high level governance for Reef Intervention Programs, including judicious procurement, contract and budget management.
- Develop and maintain high level and effective working relationships with Australian and Queensland government agencies, Traditional Owners, research institutions and industries that use the Great Barrier Reef.
- A high-level ability to provide evidence-based strategic advice to senior executives, the Marine Park Authority Board and Ministers, ensuring alignment with Government objectives and emerging opportunities.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate persuasively, and provide high quality briefs, reports and submissions.
- Promote a culture of risk and safety management in the delivery of field activities, including supporting contractors to the Reef Authority.
