Job Description The Role:
We are looking for a dedicated Purchasing Officer to develop and maintain a material requirement plan that ensures the supply of direct materials for production. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, this role involves maintaining optimal inventory levels to mitigate expired and excess stock risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchase direct materials as required for production.
- Finalise stock take results on a weekly basis and input information into the Access database to determine product ordering requirements.
- Placing orders accordingly, ensuring the required standards and delivery times are met.
- Regularly monitor future purchase order plans, expediting and de-expediting orders with suppliers where appropriate.
- Match delivery dockets to purchase orders and communicate any shortages or excesses with suppliers.
- Liaise with the planning manager to understand if production schedules have changed so that orders can be adjusted to meet revised production schedules.
- Nurture relationships with key suppliers through regular meetings focused on continuous improvement and insight sharing.
- Maintain the database with price updates, lead times, minimum order quantities etc.
- Review non-conformance forms regularly and forward information to suppliers, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are put in place and credits are retrieved accordingly.
About You:
- +3 years experience in purchasing – manufacturing environment, preferably food and short shelf-life products would be highly regarded.
- Plan and prioritise work, establishes short-term plans, organises resources to meet plans, recognises the need to commit to plans and deadlines, and meets deadlines.
- Detail oriented, maintains an orderly workspace, ensures work complies with standards, displays consistency in work procedures and takes responsibility to rectify errors.
- Establishes connections with others, recognises the value of building relationships and helps others achieve common goals.
- Displays drive to meet objectives and standards, identifies alternative possibilities when faced with obstacles and perseveres with routine tasks without sacrificing quality or excellence.
- Makes decisions in situations that are well defined, has an impact own area of responsibility, weighs up alternatives and makes decisions in the desired timeframe.
- Experienced with MRP systems, MS Access, Excel, MSD365, Outlook etc.
