Who are we looking for?
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of tenants by helping them overcome economic hardship through education?
Using your prior coaching and counselling experience and understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable tenants, you’ll provide empathetic support, conduct assessments and help tenants develop effective education plans to achieve their goals.
You’ll have excellent communication and relationship building skills to engage with external organisations, educational institutions, and community groups to expand opportunities for tenants.
You enjoy working independently and as part of a team, and be organised in capturing data, developing evidence-based strategies and ensuring projects are effectively planned, executed, and evaluated to ensure successful outcomes.
What can you expect to be doing?
As Tenant Development Opportunities Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping tenants break the cycle of poverty through education. You'll provide essential support, connect them with educational resources, and develop strategies to achieve their educational and employment goals.
- Transform Lives: Conduct in-depth assessments to uncover tenants' educational needs and aspirations, empowering them to break free from the cycle of poverty
- Unlock Opportunities: Research and connect tenants with the best educational resources, programs, scholarships, and grants that align with their goals.
- Provide Personalised Coaching: Offer tailored one-on-one coaching sessions to help tenants create effective education plans, choose the right courses, and overcome any barriers.
- Build Partnerships: Collaborate with external organisations, educational institutions, and community partners to provide tenants with access to vocational training, adult education, and higher education opportunities.
- Lead Inspiring Workshops: Organise and facilitate engaging workshops on financial literacy, study skills, career planning, and more, designed to meet tenants' unique needs.
- Continuous Support: Stay connected with tenants to monitor their progress, offer ongoing support, and tackle any challenges they encounter along the way.
What do you need to bring?
- Tertiary qualifications in the social sciences or tenant service fields or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in the Community Housing sector.
- Strong understanding of education sources for tenants who are vulnerable and have a low income.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to analyse data, assess community needs, and develop evidence-based strategies.
- Demonstrated experience providing coaching and/or counselling skills to a diverse range of community members, with a strong understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable tenants. (Qualifications in coaching or counselling skills will be highly regarded)
