An exciting opportunity currently exists for you to join the Healthcare for the Homeless program in a Research Assistant capacity for a twelve-month period. Working collaboratively with a Research Assistant based at our Sydney campus, you will be responsible for the delivery of research activities directly related to the ‘Enhancing patient voice across healthcare services for people experiencing homelessness’ study.
Hours of work are 19 per week with some flexibility of days and location. Duties for the position include:
Collaborating with St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney to co-design a patient experience survey for people experiencing homelessness
Leading the formation and implementation of a Homelessness Expert Advisory Committee
Delivering an environmental scan report
Managing SVHM specific governance and ethics approval processes
Preparing reports for key study milestones
Classifications for this position will range from HS3 - HS25 ($74,448 - $80,433 per annum, pro rata).
Your Contribution
Demonstrated awareness of, or experience in, health service research for under-served populations
Demonstrated awareness of the challenges that exist for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness when engaging with the healthcare system
Demonstrated awareness of, or relevant training in, co-design methodologies
Experience working in, or understanding of, the current healthcare environment
Experience working and liaising with a variety of key stakeholders across acute, primary and telehealth care teams
Research qualification is desirable but not essential
Current Nationally Coordinated criminal history check, or willing to obtain

The Healthcare for the Homeless (HFH) program was established in December 2021 and is currently located at St Vincent’s Hospital, Fitzroy site. The intent of the HFH program is to integrate healthcare management for people experiencing homelessness so that they achieve improved health outcomes and a better quality of life. The HFH program recognises the importance of engagement in research and evaluation activities related to people experiencing homelessness, and more broadly, under-served populations. Translating research into practice and measuring impact are key focusses of the department.
